Before:
Overgrown with grass and with no real structure except an old pergola (which blocked the view), a crumbling wall and a small paved area by the house which was dominated by a shed and old lean-to conservatory this sloping garden needed to be transformed into a garden filled with plants with lots of different places to sit and enjoy.
Design Solution: Extensive paved area by house incorporates the new conservatory and is defined by a new retaining wall. Planting, water feature and space for pots adds to courtyard feel in this area which has plenty of space for entertaining. Steps lead up to a further seating area with central millstone feature (retained from old garden) with planting in shingle and a lavender hedge. Views from this sunny spot over surrounding countryside. Three individual lawns are separated by areas of planting including many grasses and also incorporate the clients various existing plants as requested. Trellis screening hides the shed and compost area and also, a secret woodland area with a seat which takes advantage of the views.
