Before:
The planting in the garden was overgrown and congested making it impossible for the client to look after in the time available to them and there was nowhere to sit to enjoy the evening sun after work. The client wanted to keep a large lawn area and existing paving by the house and required predominately evergreen planting along with grasses and bright coloured flowers.
Design Solution: the shapeless lawn was redefined to a strong geometric shape which linked in with an extended seating area by the house and a new west facing seating area for the evening. Narrower borders provide easy access for maintenance and structure is provided by clipped box, bamboos and other architectural plants. Grasses soften the planting and extend the season of interest and flowering herbaceous plants provide spring interest close to the house and vibrant summer colour further down the garden.
